I Am the Bread of Life

John 6:22-44 | Sermon Resources | 18 May 2025

Summary

We are all seekers-restless and hungry for something deeper-and Jesus meets us in that longing with His bold claim: “I am the bread of life.” In a world full of empty substitutes, Christ alone offers true nourishment for our souls-past, present, and future. When we come to Him in faith, not only are we saved, but our affections are reshaped and our joy in him begins to grow.

In the sermon, Pastor Billy quoted 18th century Scottish Presbyterian Thomas Chalmers, who described the “expulsive power of a new affection” to drive away the love of sin from our hearts.  In what way does feeding on Christ as the bread of life, displace sinful desires in our hearts? What practically does this look like?
