The Hope Set Before Us

Hebrews 6:13-20 | Sermon Resources | 26 November 2023

In the sermon this week Pastor Billy explores “the hope set before us.”  We will consider three foundational hope-producing truths expressed in the passage: (1) God keeps his promises, (2) God is true to his purposes, and (3) God offers his presence.

Discussion Questions

  2. Where in your life do you most need to “hold fast to the hope set before us”?
  3. How is the hope found in this passage different from worldly hope? In what ways are you tempted to settle for worldly hope? What happens when we settle?
  4. According to our passage, how is Abraham an example of hope?
  5. Why may it have been difficult for Abraham to believe God’s promises? In what way can you relate?
  6. How does knowing that God keeps his promises fill us with hope?
  7. What specific promises in God’s word could you focus on this week?

  9. What does it mean that Jesus is a “forerunner on our behalf”?
  10. What is one thing you will do as a result of studying this passage?
