Imago Dei

Genesis 1:26-27 | Sermon Resources | 7 May 2023

Pastor Billy continues in our Genesis sermon series coming this week to the creation of man, made in the image of God. We will consider the distinction, dignity, and direction that the image of God confers upon mankind.

Discussion Questions

    • How can you this week begin to honor the limits of your creatureliness?
  2. In what ways does this passage keep us from having too low a view of humanity?
  3. Do you agree that we live in a “disenchanted” world? A world that has lost its sense of wonder and delight? Why or why not?
  4. Read all of Psalm 8 paying particular attention to verses 4 & 5.
    • In what way is mankind crowned with glory and honor?
    • Is this easy or hard for you to accept as true? How so?
    • How might you live your life differently if you really believed you were crowned with glory and honor as a result of being made in the image of God?
  5. In the sermon Pastor Billy made the case that the image of God is not something that can be earned or lost. Do you agree? What are the implications of thinking we have to earn the image of God or that we can lose the image of God?

    • Abortion
