Ephesians 5:7-14 | Sermon Resources | 25 September 2022
Summary
In the sermon this week Pastor Billy pays particular attention to Paul’s words in Ephesians 5:14 where he calls his readers to wake up. Pastor Billy will examine 4 components of spiritual awakening.
Discussion Questions
- How would you define a “spiritual awakening”? What is it? What is it not?
- Have you ever experienced a season of being particularly spiritually alive? How did that come about? What was the experience like?
- How is a deeper understanding of our own darkness a necessary part of becoming spiritually awake?
- What do you have a harder time getting settled in your heart: (1) that you once were darkness, or that (2) you are now light?
- How would you respond to someone who says that walking as children of light (v.8) is restrictive and dehumanizing?
- What does it mean to expose the works of darkness (v.11)? How might we do this today?
- In what area do you most need to wake you up: (1) the reality of darkness (2) the work of God in our lives (3) the calling we have received (4) the power of God?
- What might this look like for you to wake up in this area? What might begin to happen as a result?
- What is one thing you will do as a result of studying this passage?
