Waking Up to God’s Power

Ephesians 1:15-23     Sermon Resources    |   27 February 2022

Summary

In the sermon this week Pastor Billy explores Paul’s prayer for the believers in Ephesus. We will see that Paul is eager to see the Ephesians wake up to the reality of God’s power.

Discussion Questions

  1. Paul not only tells the Ephesians that he is praying for them, but he also tells them specifically how he has been praying for them. Why is it important to do both? Share a time when you were encouraged to know specifically how others were praying for you.
  2. How does Paul’s prayer here compare with how you typically pray?
  3. Why is it easier to let our imaginations “run wild” with visions of fear and worry rather than visions of God’s provision and power?
  4. What is your greater temptation: (1) to live as if you are powerless with no power available; or (2) to live in your own power independent of God? Explain.
  5. What situation in your life do you most need to experience the “immeasurable greatness of his power?”
  6. What change might begin to take place in our lives if we prayed the prayer in this passage?
  7. What do verses 22 & 23 reveal about Paul’s view of the church? How does this encourage and inspire you?
  8. What is one thing you will do as a result of studying this passage?
