Do you believe God’s heart towards you is good?  In the sermon this week Pastor Billy considers what the doctrine of redemption reveals to us about the heart of Jesus.

Discussion Questions

  1. Why is it sometimes difficult for us to really believe that God’s heart towards us is good? What would it take for us to be fully convinced – with our heads and with our hearts – that, in Christ, God’s heart towards us is good?
  2. What does our passage this week reveal to us about Jesus’ heart for sinners?
  3. Spend some time discussing the word “redemption” (v.7). What does this passage reveal about redemption?
  4. In what ways do we seek to secure our own redemption independent of the grace of God?
  5. What evidence do you see in the world that people deeply long for redemption?
  6. Which of Pastor Billy’s 4 points was most impactful for you? How so?
    • Consider the length Jesus went to secure your salvation.
    • Consider what Jesus’ suffering says about your worth to him.

    • Consider the completeness of what Jesus has accomplished.
  7. What is the “mystery of his will” which has now been made known?
  8. What does it mean to “unite all things in him”?
