Lead Us & Deliver Us

Matthew 6:9-13    |   Sermon Resources    |   8 August 2021

Sermon Summary

Pastor Billy wraps up the Lord’s Prayer sermon series this week coming to the final petition, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. In the sermon we will see that life is a spiritual minefield, we cannot trust ourselves but the Father will protect us.

Discussion Questions

  1. What benefits did the disciples receive in Jesus warning them that they would face temptation and even evil?
  2. What is at stake for someone who fails to fully recognize the spiritual dangers around them?
  3. What does it look like for us to REST in God’s protection in the midst of temptation and evil? What keeps you from resting in that protection?
  4. How can we – as a family, life group, church body – support one another in the midst of our spiritual battles?
  5. Where do you need God’s help this week in your battle against sin?
  6. As you process this whole sermon series what has been the most significant take away? What will you do with that “take away”?

For Your Family

  1. Memorize: 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”
  2. Read: Matthew 4:1-11 and discuss how Jesus confronted the temptation in his life
  3. Discuss: Where you need God’s help this week in your battle against sin?
