Weekly Update - 11/26/2021

In-person Worship Service this Sunday, November 28th - 10:00am
Sr. Pastor, Billy Haines, will be kicking of the Christmas sermon series, Why Jesus Came. He will be preaching out of Luke 4:16-21 on "Jesus Came to...Set Free". The blog can be viewed HERE. You can view our revised Indoor Worship Guidelines HERE, last updated 10/19/21.

Name Tags are Back!
Cornerstone is growing and there are lots of new faces on Sunday morning! Help us get to know one another by filling out a name tag in the lobby.

Seating Arrangement for the Worship Service
The left, right, and center sections of the sanctuary will have normal seating with no extra distance between rows. The very back section of the sanctuary under the alcove will be socially-distanced pod seating.

Worship Service Livestream
Visit our YouTube Channel HERE. Sunday Resources can be found HERE and will be available by Friday afternoon at the latest. Each week we have an online host to assist in building community among those who are joining us online. Consider using a device that will allow for you to participate in the chat.

New this year, we are having a special meeting to present the 2022 budget to the congregation. The meeting will be held in the sanctuary before the worship service. Children and youth will still have Sunday school. While we will still present an overview of the budget at our annual congregational meeting on December 12th, this special budget meeting will allow for an in-depth presentation and time for questions. The 2022 Budget will be available in the church lobby beginning this Sunday.

We will celebrate what God has done in and through Cornerstone this past year. The meeting will be held in the sanctuary before the worship service. Additionally, Dan Smith Sr. will be standing for election as a ruling elder. We will also be voting on corporation officers: Keith Green for president, Craig Wellman for secretary, and Ryan Byers for treasurer. A full agenda for the meeting is available in the office.

Sunday, December 12 at 9:00am in rooms 103 & 104. Games and activities for children 5th grade and younger. This event takes place during the Congregational Meeting and provides a place for the children to be while their parents are in the meeting.

Christmas is coming! Read below to know what is happening at Cornerstone this Christmas season.

Advent Worship Services
Sunday worship will continue to be at 10:00am in person and online. The sermon series will be “Why Jesus Came”. Pick up an Advent Guide in the lobby to follow along.

Why Jesus Came Advent Guides
This year we are making some special efforts to celebrate Advent together as a church family. Staff and ministry volunteers have collaborated to publish our own Advent guide. The guide will follow Pastor Billy’s Advent sermon series, Why Jesus Came. The guide includes sermon reflection questions along with personal and family devotionals.

Advent Wreath Kits
Advent Wreath Kits are available to help you prepare for the Christmas season. The wreaths can enhance your devotional time as you follow along with the Advent guide, but are not essential to using the guide. (Limited availability! These are the same kits as last year, so if you picked one up in 2020, please consider using that one.)

Special Outdoor Service - "Carols & Cocoa"
Sunday, December 19th at 6:30pm. Join us for a short service outside with Christmas carols, a very brief message, and hot cocoa. We hope that this service will be of particular interest to those who may not feel comfortable worshipping indoors.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Services
Friday, December 24th at 4:00pm and 6:00pm. Services will also be livestreamed.

"Christmas at Cornerstone" Invitation Bags
These gift bags are for you to invite a friend, relative, neighbor or coworker to join us this Christmas season. Each bag has one of the Advent Guides, an invitation to Christmas services, and candy.

"Christmas at Cornerstone" Digital Invitation
We have created an image that we would love for you to share on social media. You can download the image HERE, or you can share it directly from our Facebook Page HERE. Thank you in advance!

Christmas at Cornerstone 2021

This past Sunday we kicked off our Acts 1:8 Challenge as we seek “to see all of our members delighting to share their faith where they live, work, and play." We are asking you to write down the names of 3 people with whom you would like to share your faith and for whom you can pray daily. If you didn’t pick up your bookmark this Sunday, they will continue to be available in the church lobby.

"Follow me and I will make you fishers of men." - Jesus (Matthew 4:19)

For the next week pray daily for God to:

  1. Fill me with faith and expectation for how God will work in the contacts I have chosen.
  2. Make the love for Christ and the love of Christ evident in my life as I reach out to my contacts.
  3. Cause our contacts to think beyond the things of this world towards spiritual and eternal things.

"Every conversation is a ministry opportunity." - Alvin Reed (Sharing Jesus Without Freaking Out)
