Craig Wellman

As a 80 year old, Craig has had a lot of experience knowing God. That gives him some perspective on his faith that he did not always recognize along the way.

God blessed him by putting him in a Christian home at birth. His father was a Presbyterian minister and a fine preacher. Craig’s father and his mother helped develop his faith at home. In retrospect, one thing that was very helpful was family devotions — reading a chapter of the Bible every night. That gave him a good overview of the whole Bible. He also got Christian leadership experience in a church youth group. Of course no one inherits salvation. He asked Jesus Christ to come into his heart at Sandy Cove’s Boys Camp when he was eight and he has sought to grow in faith and spiritual maturity ever since.

At the University of Delaware, he became active in Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship when he realized that, for his faith to survive and grow, he had to join a Christian group.

He is married to his wonderful wife Anne and the Lord has blessed them with three children, two born to them and one adopted from Guyana. They are now grown and married. Two are active members and leaders in their churches and Craig and Anne have five grandchildren. Over the years Craig and Anne have been active members of several churches. In each they have sought to serve the Lord through various ministries and offices.

Following graduation from U of D, Craig worked as an electrical engineer and eventually became a senior consultant in DuPont and a Fellow in IEEE. After retiring, Craig did independent consulting for several years but now primarily focuses on volunteer work at Cornerstone. He enjoys serving as a Deacon and the secretary and records manager of any committee that will have him.
