Bruce Boone

Bruce was born in Baltimore, Maryland where he attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. As a young man God, through His grace, captured his heart and he became a Christian. After graduation he worked briefly as a draftsman for Maryland Steel Products Company. As he continued to grow in faith in the Lord, he had an opportunity to serve his country and enlisted after the 1969 “Tet Offensive.” He joined the Marine Corps, serving two years active duty and four years in the reserve. After being discharged from the Marine Corps, he went to school at the University of Maryland. After three years of study, he left school and worked as a police officer for the Baltimore County Police Department. After several years, he resigned from the department due to a rare opportunity where he purchased his first of several horse farms where he bred and raised Thoroughbred race horses. For the next eighteen years he worked on his farms in Carroll County, Maryland, Bel Air, Maryland and Cecil County, Maryland. It was during this time that he really grew in the Lord and became very active in church. He met his wife, Margaret, in 1987 in Houston, Texas, and they were married in Houston in November, 1987. Moving from Texas to Maryland, they have also in Landenberg, PA and for the last ten years have lived in Newark, Delaware. They have a daughter Sarah Christine who is a freshman at Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, where she is studying music with a major in Vocal Performance, and plans to teach after graduation. The past 18 years Bruce has faithfully served at Cornerstone in a number of ministries, including 17 years as an elder and 6 years as Clerk of Session.
