Luke 13:34; 24:36-49      Sermon Resources   |   4 April 2021

Summary

In the sermon this week Pastor Billy explores the heart of Jesus as he pursues his people.  We will examine how he lovingly addresses the unwillingness of his disciples to receive him and consider what this means for us.

Discussion Questions

  1. What does Jesus’ lament in Luke 13:34 reveal about his heart? Does it surprise you that Jesus has desires or “longings” (NIV)?  Why do you think the people were unwilling to receive what Jesus was offering?
  2. What do we learn about the heart of Jesus as he appears to his disciples in Luke 24:36-49?
  3. Spend some time discussing the 3 forms of unwillingness Pastor Billy outlined in the sermon. For each one discuss: (1) how it is seen in the passage and (2) how you can relate.
  • Fear
  • Doubt
  • Blindness
  1. What does it say about Jesus that he is able to overcome the unwillingness of his disciples?
  2. How can you grow to become more open to receive what God would desire to do in your life?
